Kansas Summer Nationals Success Built on Seven Decades of Dedication

Sellersburg, IN (August 2nd, 2024) – There are a number of storied, legendary pulls with many years of competition and success; the number of events that stretch beyond fifty years of pulling, however, are a mere handful. Born from the McLouth Threshing Bee in McLouth, Kansas in 1966, the event now known as the Kansas Summer Nationals will see pulling competition for the 59th time tomorrow night, Saturday, August 3rd.

It's no small task to keep an event going that long. For the head of the promotion team, Bill Petrie, it's "an eclectic mix of the old and the modern" to draw fans and pullers alike. As one of the original event partners with the Champion Seed Western Series in 2014, dramatic growth in fan attendance saw the purchase of grandstands lining both tracks, with an area left for traditional festival seating just as it was in the early years of pulling. The pullers have seen change as well, from participating in a loosely organized contest in the Sixties to battling for Western Series points. The event also welcomes Pro Pulling League member-state Nebraska Bush Pullers competitors and, new for 2024, two classes from the Champions Tour: ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractors joining the Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks presented by Summit Racing that have been in McLouth in years prior.

Driven to serve pulling fans from near and far, the Kansas Summer Nationals are playing host to a production crew from Pro Pulling TV tomorrow night as well. Pulling action on the twin tracks of the Threshing Bee grounds at 7 pm CT.
