HMS Update - Winter Challenge

The Winter Challenge didn't quite go as we had hoped this weekend, ending with a couple DNFs. On Friday night I had to start last in my heat race and made my way to 5th which put me in the feature but wasn't enough for the top 8 redraw. Starting from 10th I lost a few spots early and all throughout the race we battled a problem with the Magneto bringing the motor down in the center of the corner. This made the car tight  we played into my favor later in the race where I was able to pass a few cars to finish 9th. On Saturday we had a double header and in the first event I started 3rd and finished 2nd in my heat race, just enough to get me into the top 8 redraw where I pulled 8. We took a chance and went extremely tight on setup knowing that at some point the track was likely too take rubber and it came back to haunt us. Early on the car was fast in the slick but I was way too tight later and decided that pulling off would be better than wrecking our or somebody else's car. We then moved on to the finale where I started on the pole of my heat race and won by almost half a lap. We were the fastest car in the heats and I felt really good going into the feature. I drew 7 in the redraw and was up to 5th early but quickly lost the handle on the car when the track started going away. I slipped back a few spots and somebody spun right in front of me so u got caught up in it. Turning the car on its side and it was damaged to where we couldn't go on. We've got the nonwing car dialed in for early track conditions but we're still working on getting it tightened up enough in the slick. Our next race looks to be the ASCS National Tour opener at Tucson International Raceway later on this month. I'm already excited to get back on that track, formerly known as USA Raceway, where I am really comfortable and have a lot of laps.
