Team 1HD Knoxville Raceway Review..
This past Saturday night found driver Jason Tostenson and Team 1HD and 35 other teams racing at the Legendary Knoxville Raceway. The team, with not alot of experience running on the monster 1/2 mile found themselves having to dig out of deep hole after a very poor showing in qualifying. Team Owner and crew chief Steve Staerk commented after qualifying, "I have never been burned so bad by a track surface in my life! I was sure that there was way more moisture out there than what it turned out to be, and missed the set-up badly!"
The team made whole sale adjustments for the heat race where they would find themselves starting last. Jason made his move right off the bat to the high side and started to pass cars and then avoided catastrophe when 3 cars got together right in front of him and began flipping on all sides of him which ended up blowing the left rear tire. After a quick tire change under the red Jason would re-start 6th and made a nice move right away to move up to the 4th and final transfer for the A-main.
The A-main would be run on a very slick track, and once again we kinda missed the set-up. The car was lacking forward bite off the corners. Jason did a very good job making nice consistent laps but the bite was just not there on exit in the corners. Jason ended up finishing right where he started in 16th. All and all the night was a success as the team learned alot about the track for the next time they visit. Alot of good cars never made the A-main, so the team will take it!
Team 1HD will not be in action this next weekend so stay tuned for schedule updates. The team will have the car on display at Farm Fest up in Minnesota Aug 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, for our main sponsor Grain Handler continous mix flow dryers! Without Gary Todd and Grain Handler there is no way we would have been able to do any racing this year and we cannot thank him and his company enough!!
