Tony Jackson Jr. makes pair of Diamond Nationals feature starts
After a brief mid-summer break, Tony Jackson Jr. returned to competition on Friday and Saturday with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway. Jackson made both feature events in the 19th annual CMH Diamond Nationals at the pristine 3/8-mile speed plant.
On Friday evening, Jackson and his Schlup Enterprises No. 56 Super Late Model team competed in a 36-car LOLMDS field with a $15,000 winner’s share up for grabs. Jackson took sixth in his heat race and was runner-up in his B-Main, starting him in 20th in the 40-lap feature. He finished 22nd.
Thirty-four LOLMDS competitors were at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” on Saturday for the $25,000-to-win finale. Jackson grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat, positioning him 14th on the grid to start the 50-lap main event. He fell back in the race and registered a 25th-place result.
