Kosiski Scores Top 10 To Open 2020; Settles For 5th Place Finish at Mason City

After the longest off season of his career, Andrew Kosiski kicked off his 2020 campaign Saturday night at the Independence Motor Speedway as the Hoker Trucking LLC Super Late Model Racing (SLMR) Series raced for a $3,000 pay day.

Making his first career start at the highbanks, Kosiski timed in 16th overall out of 31 cars. Starting second row inside, AK jumped into the runner up position on lap one of his heat race behind Chris Simpson. Simpson would lead every lap with Andrew finishing 2nd.

The 35 lap main event was a tough one for the No. 53, Kosiski battled with Simpson, Tad Pospisil, and JC Wyman early on; after the second yellow of the race on lap 19, Andrew found himself sitting in the eight position where he started. The final 16 laps went green and Andrew faded towards the end coming across the line in 10th place.

Andrew Kosiski and Team 53 were on track for the second night in a row to start the 2020 campaign on Sunday night at the Mason City Motor Speedway. This was the second night in a row the Hoker Trucking LLC Super Late Model Racing (SLMR) Series took on a north central Iowa short track for a $3,000 to win event.
AK kicked off the night in heat race action by advancing from his 5th starting position to finish runner up. Andrew used a last lap pass on Charlie McKenna to earn the 2nd place finish and the top qualifying points earner of the night.

Kosiski set sail in the 35 lap A main event from the outside of row two. Andrew settled into the fourth position in the early laps until he made the pass on Curt Schroeder for third just before the yellow flag came out on lap 13. It appeared as though Kosiski was in the cat bird seat as he was set to restart on the bottom which had become the preferred lane, but the restart seen the No. 04 of Tad Pospisil get underneath the All Makes Collision Center, Certified Transmission, Kosiski Auto Parts, Super Clean No. 53, allowing a freight train of drivers to get by. AK fell to 7th in the running order, but was able to retake 6th, and then used a late race restart to take over the 5th position during the closing laps to finish off the feature event.
