HMS Update - Knoxville Raceway

Last night we kicked off our 3 weekends of racing at the Knoxville Raceway with the weekly Knoxville Championship Cup 410 cars. I started off the night quick in hot laps but slipped up a little and qualified 26th out of 34 cars. That would put us starting 7th in the heat race. On the first lap of the heat I knocked down the nose wing when some cars got bunched up on the initial start and the car was a handful throughout the heat and I finished 7th in the heat. That would not put us in the A feature but it would set me up to start 4th in the B. From there we made some adjustments and the car started to feel better to me and I finished 4th to transfer to the A. Starting 24th, it took me a few laps to get the car figured out and I was running about 18th with 5 laps to go. On the final restart, I was able to get by 3 or 4 cars and also go on to pass a couple more to finish 13th. All in all it was a pretty good run for me, being the first time in a 410 at Knoxville. Now we look forward to Friday, our prelim night for the Knoxville 360 Nationals.
