HMS Update - 81 Speedway

Last night's race in Wichita, KS was a tough one for us at 81 Speedway but I feel like we've learned something from it going forward. The night started off well, drawing the 5 pill which set me up on the pole of the 3rd heat. The track was still fairly heavy in turns 1 and 2 but slick from the bottom up to a cushion in 3 and 4. I did not get a great start and fell into 2nd. After a few laps I was catching the leader but I felt the car rolled up on the right rear. I got to where I felt I could make a move and got beside the leader but it was too slick in 3 and 4 and I almost spun the car out. I lost one spot and was riding in 3rd on the last lap when I got out of the gas too much and pushed up over the edge. We made quite a few changes and went out for the B feature hoping just to improve. The track didn't change much and on the first couple laps I was able to get by several cars. The field strung out and some were starting to slide off the top side of turn 4 so I tried working the bottom groove. There was a caution with a few laps to go and I was running 8th, and 3 cars transfer. On the restart, I got by 2 cars and later in the run I got by another but I ran out of time, finishing 5th. The car was a lot better and and there was still room for improvement but were still disappointed in the run. We were able to put it back in the trailer in one piece so that is a plus. We are not sure of our next race but we will update the website when we do know.
