HMS Update - Cocopah Speedway

The racing weekend is over here in Yuma, AZ at the Cocopah Speedway. It was thankfully less eventful than last weekend, as things went very smooth except for a punctured power steering hose that let go in hot laps. The 24 pill was good enough to start 3rd in the 2nd heat and we were able to get the line changed. On the start, I was able to jump to 2nd through turns 1 and 2 but couldn't hold on, falling to 3rd. I challenged and passed for 2nd once again and the battle continued corner to corner until I finally settled in 3rd, where I would finish. The track got slicker through the race and it appeared like it was going to be similar to the night before. I was set to start 13th but after an opening lap wreck, I ultimately started 11th. On the start I held my own but a car or 2 got by me. Once we got rolling I felt about as fast as anybody else but I got a little too aggressive using the inside birm and got out of shape with the front end up and the car side ways. I lost about 5 spots but I went back to work, this time being a little more careful. I ran the rest of the race there and would gain on 17th little by little until I made a mistake and lost it all. The car was decent but not great and although we are happy to roll the car in the trailer with an 18th place finish, we would have liked to have been a little better. If everything goes smoothly these next few weeks our plan is to make the 39th Annual Spring Nationals at Devil's Bowl Speedway with the ASCS National Tour and after that we will go week to week to determine when and where we will race this season.
