Riebert Jr Doubles up with 2 Mod wins at Hillbilly Bracket Bash

Delmar, DE-

The 2nd Hillbilly Bracket Bash faced some really hot temperatures, but the racers showed up and showed off! We had an unpredictable forecast, but here on the shore any 10 day forecast looks exactly the same,” stated Mark Cathell, promoter at US 13 Dragway. It does scare off some drivers, but we had a good field of cars that took a chance on us.

Friday night, local driver Paul Riddle of Millsboro, DE raced through the 64 car Top Shootout to take the win over Layton Sumpter, Silver Springs, MD to start off the Hillbilly Bracket Bash. Tommy Teague took out Kris Conner and took the big check home in the Mod 32 car shootout. Andrew Ockles won the Jr Gamblers race over Camden Berry and was ready to compete all weekend.

Saturday, the heat was turned up with track temps in the 130-140s. Our drivers had no problems getting down the track even in the heat. Josh Phelps, turned on the heat in the finals against David Whitesell. Wr Ketterman finished semi finalist.

Mod driver Brian Reibert Jr took the first of 2 wins for the weekend with his first win over William Hines.

Jr Dragster, Jordan Denny Jr finished his Jr career with a win over Shane Connor. Denny ages out of Jr Dragsters for the season.

Sunday, the weather showed a little relief with the overcast start to the day; but shortly after lunch the sun came out and heated things up to finish the weekend.

Top Eliminator had Laury McGowan Sr that made the long drive from Virginia to race a final weekend with his son and grandson before his grandson heads to Pennsylvania for college. The youngest McGowan had motor issues early on Sunday but his grandfather showed him how to finish the weekend with a win over Danny Bastianelli. Semi loss went to Frankie Lecates and Mike Hooper.

Riebert Jr took the second win of the weekend in Mod with a win over Keven Yates who turned it red in the finals.

Local Jr Dragster driver, Blake LeCates Truitt took the win over Brandon Mattera.

The winner circle pictures were finished just in time with a light rain starting within a few minutes. Thank you to all the drivers that braved the weekend heat to enjoy the Hillbilly Bracket Bash, 2024. See you back for the Hillbilly Bracket Bash 2025.
