TWO FOR TRUTE IN DRP SPORTSMAN
Wisconsin Dells WI 7/30/22-Dave Trute scored his second D&C Transportation UMA Sportsman feature win in a row on Chasing Daylight Animal Shelter night at the races. Cody Potter and Mitch Lyden brought a great looking field of Sportsman to the line for their 25 lap feature. Rookie Cody Potter would take the early advantage and try to power away. Potter would have to fight off many challengers in his run at the front of the field, none more intense than a side by side battle with Mark Challet that featured a seesaw battle for the point. David Borntreger would join the battle and take the lead just before halfway. A mid race caution would draw Dave Trute to the rear bumper of the 9 car. After choosing the outside following an appearance from the Five Star Concrete and Excavating Lane Choice Cone, Trute would use a great launch out of the Dell Prairie Auto Body Restart Zone to secure the lead with 11 to go. The race was not over for Trute however as current point leader Brandon Birdsill would fire past Borntreger and set his sights on the leader. Birdsill landed at the back bumper of Trute coming to the white flag. The battle was fierce down the backstretch with Birdsill gaining inside position into three, it was a drag race to the line as Birdsill went for the bump and run off of four but the seasoned veteran Trute was able to hold on at the line for the win. The Incredible Cars Of Cross Plains Fast Dash was won by Bobby Giers and the nights lone heat race was collected by Dan Frye. Brandon Birdsill was the Fast qualifier for the D&C Transportation UMA Sportsman with a lap of 14.895
