Spalding, Turner, Keller, Johnson triumph at I-35 Speedway
By Phillip Wilson (Winston, MO) -- It was Missour One Call night at I-35 Speedway as 123 cars checked into the pit area. The officials ran a quick and efficient show as the final checkered flag flew shortly after 10 pm.
The E-Mods were first on the track as Casey Burnett picked up his 2nd feature when of the season after three races. Coleman Browning, Chris Dishong, and Lane Mathews battled it out for second, third and fourth, with Adam Dunwoodie coming from deep in the field to finish fifth.
In Pure Stock action Brandon Dixon found a little more speed with around 5 laps to go to pick up his first win of the season. Conrad Kaufman started last and found his way to finish in the second position. Mike Kincaid and Josh Marshall battled it out up front to finish in third and fourth with Ava Dixon fifth.
Shayne Bailey picked up his third feature win in three races this season in Midwest Limited Late Models. During the last few laps Austin Johnson seemed to be closing in but ran out of time and finished second. Ed Noll’s fortunes took a turn for the better as he finished third, with Michael Dotson and Tommy Cordray rounding out the top five.
Shadren Turner made his return to I-35 Speedway a triumphant one as he visited the McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane for the second time this season. Last week’s feature winner Jake Richards battle side by side each lap with Tyler Cadwallader, with Richards finishing second and Cadwallader third. Another side by side battle ensued each lap with Tim Galvan finishing fourth and Corey Myers fifth.
The SMVR made their return to I-35 Speedway with Tom Charles picking up the win convincingly after starting at the back of the field. Larry Waters made a late race charge finishing second, with Damon Clevenger third, Jeff Siler fourth and Danie Schmidt fifth.
USRA Stock Car opening night feature winner Nic Hanes made it back to victory lane for the second time in 2022. Hanes battled early with Austin Bouzek before Bouzek retired with mechanical issues. Doug Keller battled to take the win, but ran out of time finishing second, with Rodney Schweizer, Aaron Sauter and Kameron Hanes rounding out the top five.
Chris Spalding picked up his second straight USRA Modifieds. Austin Johnson, doing double duty, finished second in both features tonight. Houston Johnson finished third, Tyler Hibner fourth and Lee Hibner fifth.
In the Sport Compacts, David Miller picked up his first feature win of 2022. Isaiah Penton took the lead late, but a caution would wipe that away as we had to revert back to the last completed lap and he would finish second. Brad Mick would take third, Chris Berry fourth and Bobby Chilton fifth.
Fan of the Week for the 2022 season kicked off tonight, with Emily Wymann holding the winning ticket. Sponsors included Dunwoodie Racing, Dixon Racing, King Racing, Graphics King/Lightfoot Racing and Silkwood Family Racing.
Join us next week for Casey’s General Store night at I-35 Speedway as it will be Central Auto Racing Boosters (C.A.R.B.) night and we will have kids Pinewood Derby Car races.
