Joshua Shipley Records Top Five in Non-Wing Car After Several Months Off

Inside Line Promotions – QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (Nov. 13, 2018) – Joshua Shipley ran his non-wing car for the first time since July last Saturday evening when he joined the San Tan Ford Desert Sprint Car Series at Arizona Speedway.

“It was pretty nice to be able to hop back in my own car,” he said. “I actually just got the motor back from the engine builder so that was exciting. The car was really fast.”

Shipley started and finished third in a heat race, which transferred him to the pole of the main event. He dropped to fifth early, but after a few laps he regained his momentum and was able to keep up with the leaders.

“We ended up finishing fourth and I think we could have been competitive if our start would have been better,” Shipley said. “The car just needed to get rolling again. It felt good to be able to grab a top five in a series that I’ve only raced in a couple of times this year.”

Shipley will return to action during Thanksgiving Weekend when he tackles the 3rd annual Copper Classic at Arizona Speedway on Nov. 23-24. He will pull double duty, racing with both the Napa Non-Wing Sprint Series and the ASCS Southwest Region.

“I’ll be driving my own non-wing car and I’ll be driving the No. 7 Speed Sports winged car for Mark Clark,” he said. “I enjoy driving for Mark so I think it’ll be pretty fun. That’s our last race of the year and it’s always a good one. We were able to use last weekend as a shake down and get some data. I feel really confident in our ability for the Copper Classic.”
