Derek Fisher Bags Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial at Mountain Motor Speedway

ISOM, KENTUCKY (June 20, 2025)—Derek Fisher became the 56th different winner in Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series victory scoring the $,5000 payday on Friday Night in the Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial at Mountain Motor Speedway. The event was co-sanctioned with the Ultimate Heart of America Super Late Model Series. This would be Fisher’s second Ultimate H.o.A. victory of the season. It has been 5,766 days since the last Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series event.

The Olympia, Ky. driver led all 30 laps to take home the victory in the Mike Swartz-owned, Jay Dickens-powered Longhorn Chassis. The sponsors on the 39-year-old Fisher’s entry includes Swartz Construction & Tree Removal, Swartz Rentals & Swartz Farms.

Fisher jumped to the early lead of the main event with Brandon Fouts and Colten Burdette in hot pursuit. On the lap-20, Burdette would muscle his way around Fouts on the outside of the Delaware Double-File restart and take over second spot and tries to challenge Fisher for the win but Fisher pulled out to several car lengths until a few laps to go. Burdette closed the gap at the line but Fisher would take the checkered flag with 0.772 seconds ahead of Burdette. Rounding out the top-five behind Fisher was Burdette, Fouts, Camaron Marlar & Larry Martin Jr.

Four Deatherage Racing Opticians Caution Flags slowed the main event. The first caution came on lap four as Brad Rickels slowed his Gary Engle-mount in turn four. The second yellow flag came out on lap seven as Lenny Bates spun his entry in turn two. On the 20th circuit, Bates would again bring out the yellow flag as he stopped at the top of turn four. On the final yellow flag, which came on lap-20, Larry Martin Jr. got into the back of Blake Creech coming off of turn four collecting Creech, Seth Daniels & Kenny Howell.

The next events for the Battle of the Bluegrass DIRTcar Series will be Thursday July 3 at Mudlick Valley Raceway for the 4B4EVER race co-sanctioned with the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series. The BoB tour will then visit 191 Speedway in Campton, Ky. for the first of two season appearances on Friday July 4.
