Brad Sweet Dominates Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Action During Merced Speedway Opener as Johnson and Corn Also Find Victory Lane
(PETERSEN MEDIA- Merced, CA)- Friday night the lights shined bright at Merced Speedway, as the 2020 season opened on a high note as World of Outlaws Champion, Brad Sweet bested a 51 car Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Field, and shared victory lane with Garrett Corn, and Michael Johnson.
In the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s first ever appearance at the Merced Bullring, it was California’s own, Brad Sweet, stealing the show. Piloting a newly put together Main Motorsports car, Sweet got the nod to drive the car in tribute to long time fallen friend, Kyle Main, and picked up the feature event win over Shane Golobic, Blake Hahn, Carson Macedo, and Andy Forsberg.
Heat race wins went to Michael Faccinto, Sweet, Justyn Cox, Tanner Carrick, Thomas, Kennedy, and Forsberg, Four qualifiers were ran and wins went to Hahn, Golobic, Justin Sanders, and Dominic Scelzi, while Cox and Chase Johnson won B Main events.
19 IMCA Sport Mods checked in on Friday night to kick their 2020 season off at Merced Speedway, and it was Michael Johnson taking top honors, Johnson picked up the win over Fred Ryland, Kevin Johnson, Jeremy Hoff, and Chris Falkenburg.
The Mini Late Models were also in action, and it was Garrett Corn picking up the win in dominating fashion. Going from eighth to first in a lap, Corn grabbed the win over Kennzzie Brown, and Riley Jeppesen.
The season is now off and running at Merced Speedway, and things get back to Saturday night’s this coming week! On this card this Saturday are the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mod’s, Mini Stocks, and Dwarf Cars.
Tickets will be available on Saturday night with Kids 5 and Under being admitted free, children 6-12 for just $5, Senior Citizens 60 and up and Military for just $10, and Adults for $12.
The pit gate is slated to open at 2pm, with the main grandstands opening at 5pm. Hot laps will go green a promptly 6pm with heat race action slated for 7pm.
