Hobby Stock Smackdown at Mini Gold Cup, IMCA Northen SportMod’s on Friday
CHICO, Calif., March 11, 2024…SLC Promotions is excited to announce the addition of the Hobby Stock division to Saturday nights portion of the Mini Gold Cup, March 16th. Previously, the division was scheduled to race only the Friday night, March 15th portion. After numerous inquiries about adding more dates this year, SLC Promotions listened. This now gives the Hobby Stocks seven races at Silver Dollar Speedway in 2024.
With the addition to the schedule, SLC Promotions has decided to offer a two-night point battle during the Mini Gold Cup. The top three drivers who accumulate the most points over both nights will get a bonus of $300 for first, $200 for second, and $100 for third in points. Points will be awarded for heat races and the main event finishes. The heat race winner will receive 5 points dropping by one through 5th place in the heat. Main event winner will receive 40 points. Second place will receive 38, then drop by one through the field. If a car does not qualify for the main event, they will be awarded 15 points. If there is a tie in points after both nights of racing, the driver finishing higher in Saturday night’s main event will be awarded the spot. The Speedway will also present the point winner with a wrestling themed Silver Dollar Speedway belt.
The Silver Dollar Speedway is also welcoming back the IMCA Northern SportMod’s for five individual shows in 2024 starting this Friday night March 15. Drivers who compete at Chico can earn IMCA points for the second year in a row. Other IMCA Northern Sport Mod events include April 5, May 10, June 28, and July 4. All races fall under the IMCA rules.
Pit gate opens at 2 PM for both days of racing. Please use the Martin Luther King BLVD and turn into the side street by Costco to come into the fairgrounds. The front grandstand gate opens at 5 PM on Friday, and at 4 PM on Saturday. Camping is available on pit lane at a cost of $60 per night.
