Mr. Excitement Wows Crowd with Spectacular Win

CHICO, CA (7-25-14) - Usually when a driver picks up a Victory, you think everything went right and worked to perfection. That was not the case for Auburn, Ca.'s Andy Forsberg on this night. The driver dubbed, Mr. Excitement lived up to his name tonight as he wheeled past Sean Becker, and Andy Gregg on the high scary side to pick up the Popular Victory aboard the Forsberg Racing, A&A Stepping Stone, Autism Awareness #92, his first at Silver Dollar Speedway since August 23rd, 2013. It didn't come easy as he and his crew battled Engine troubles all night long. In Victory Lane Andy stated, "I just had to tell myself to never give up. Just like my Autistic buddy always says, Never Give Up." That never give up attitude landed Andy his 39th Career win at Silver Dollar Speedway during Points Race #12 presented by Cherry St. Mini Storage. Other winners during Tri Counties Bank Championship Points Race #12 included Ryan McDaniel in both the Dirt Modifieds, and the Ltd. Late Models, Howard Law picked up the win in the Mini Stock Class, and Chris Warner won the Street Stock Main Event.

At the drop of the initial Green Flag. "Flip Flops" Brandon Mansfield jumped way out into the lead after starting on the Pole. The yellow flag would fly though on the back straight as the officials determined that Mansfield was a little early on the gas. Mansfield was moved back a row which brought Placerville, Ca.'s Andy Gregg up to the Pole Position alongside Gregg was Oregon driver Seth Nunes in a 360 powerplant. Into turn one Gregg pulled out to a pretty extensive lead over Nunes. Nunes though would start to fade as the big 410 Engines overpowered him. The battle for 2nd heated up on Lap 9 when Andy Forsberg drove to the top shelf and went around the outside of Sean Becker in Turn 2 for the 2nd spot. Forsberg would than begin to track down the Miller Fortune, Brian Cannon wrenched #53 of Gregg for the Lead. Forsberg was finally able to get around Gregg on lap 15 the same way he did Becker, on the high side. From that point on, it was all Andy Forsberg as he charged to Victory. Jonathan Allard charged from a 5th Row starting position to finish in the 2nd position driving the Clyde Lamar owned, Tri-C Machine #3c car. Sean Becker was able to maintain his 10 point lead over Mason Moore in the Points Battle by way of a 3rd place run. Andy Gregg would fade to a 4th place finish as he heads to Knoxville, Iowa for The Knoxville Nationals in the next couple of weeks. Corning Driver, Bud Walberg wheeled his Walberg Inc. #55 machine, wrenched by Mikayla Walberg to yet another top five finish. After the checkered flag flew though we saw a scary incident as the #19 of Keith Bloom Jr. caught fire in a big way off of turn #1. Multiple drivers saw the fire and stopped to help Bloom out of the car. Bloom was able to walk off under his own power. Another scary incident happened in Heat Race action when Rookie of the Year contender, Rowdy McClenon took a wild ride in turn two, thus ending his night early. Andy Forsberg and Andy Gregg both picked up Heat Race Victories. Jonathan Allard set the fastest lap in Qualifying with a time of 12.544.

Ryan McDaniel has been a dominant force in the Ltd. Late Model division all year long. He continued his string of dominance, picking up his 4th straight win in 4 starts in the division. It didn't come easy though as his father Randy McDaniel as well as Duane Cleveland both hounded Ryan for the race lead. Ryan would get stuck behind the slower car of Willy McMillen as he was trying to put him a lap down. McMillen stayed in front of McDaniel for several laps before contact was made between the two drivers resulting in McMillen sitting the wrong way on the track and being clipped by Randy McDaniel, ending Randy's night early. Ryan would then go on to pick up the victory over, Matt Micheli who put on a charge on the final lap to nearly clip McDaniel at the Line coming up just a bit short. David Newquist would finish in the 3rd position. With Duane Cleveland and Willy McMillen rounding out the Top 5. Duane Cleveland picked up the sole Heat Race Win for the Division.

One win was not enough for Ryan McDaniel. He wanted one more for the night and that is just what he got in the Dirt Modified Maint Event. After an early race spin McDaniel gathered his thoughts and put together a great race en route to victory once again. In Victory Lane Ryan encouraged all the fans to go to IMCA Racing's Facebook Page and click on the link to Vote him in to the IMCA All Star Race held in Boone, Iowa. Please show your support for our local racer by casting your vote for him into the All Star Race. Duane Cleveland once again hounded McDaniel for the win but would come up just a bit short finishing in the 2nd position. Dustin Massey led most of the race but as the race went on you could tell he was experiencing some motor issues. Massey would still hold on to finish in the 3rd position. Salinas, Ca. Driver Alex Wilson had an extremely fast car tonight as he battled up front all night long, finally settling for a 4th place finish. While Randy McDaniel would round out the Top 5. Heat Race Action for the Dirt Modifieds saw a rare and scary occurrence as Good Guy Leif Berglund got upside down in turn 3 during his heat race. Coincidentally Leif would than start on the Pole of the Main Event eventually finishing in the 8th Position in the Main Event. Heat Race Victories were claimed by Duane Cleveland and Ryan McDaniel. Randy McDaniel was victorious in the New and very popular Trophy Dash.

Chris Warner took over the Points Lead and became the first repeat winner of 2014 in the Street Stock class with his commanding victory tonight. Warner started up front and never looked back. Mitch Machado returned to the Silver Dollar Speedway and finished in the 2nd Position. Phil Marino finished 3rd in a rough and tumble race. While Brent Lawrence and Richard Workman rounded out the top five. Chris Warner also dominated and won the sole heat race for the Street Stock Class.

Howard Law completed the Clean Sweep of the Night for the Mini Stock class as he won his Heat Race and Won the Main Event. Extending his Points lead to Nine points over 2nd place finisher Jimmy Ford. Shaun Merrit would come home with a 3rd place finish, while Ryan Cherezian and Nick Vidovich would round out the top five.

During our intermission tonight Mason Moore Racing Presented a check for $500 to the Wings of Eagles foundation. Then, The Wings of Eagles presented Garth Moore with a Plaque showing their appreciation of the support he and Mason Moore Racing have given them over the last few years. Silver Dollar Speedway would also like to say thank you to Garth Moore for all he has done to help promote such a great group in The Wings of Eagles.
