Championship Points Race #12 this Friday Night

CHICO, CA (7-23-14) - The Tri Counties Bank point championship series is set to resume this Friday night, July 25th, at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Five racing divisions will be on hand led by the 410 winged sprint cars, dirt modifieds, limited late models, street stocks and mini stocks. All five divisions will be earning critical championship points as we head into the final four nights of racing.

The nights racing action will be presented by Cherry St. Mini Storage in Ukiah and the Wings of Eagles organization. On behalf of the speedway and with help from Mason Moore Racing, Cherry St. Mini Storage and Kevin Sharrah Designs, we will host some brave children and their families during this night. A special presentation to the Wings of Eagles organization will take place during our intermission.

Front gate will open at 6 PM with racing slated to start at 7 PM. For more information please call the track office phone at (530) 350-7275 or visit www.silverdollarspeedway.com

Even though Sean Becker continues to lead the sprint car championship, the driver with the most impressive last eight races at Chico has been Jonathan Allard. The Chico native has won four of the previous eight main events that has rocketed him to 53 career wins at his home track. Allard held off Becker in another memorable main event last Friday. Yet, to Becker's credit, he has won two of the last three main events in that same time span. Becker leads Mason Moore by 10 championship points. Moore is looking to track down his first win of the season at Chico. Orland's BJ Martin has had the most impressive year to date. He sits all by himself in the third spot of points and a first career main event win is just around the corner for him. Corning's Bud Walberg and Keith Bloom are tied for the fourth position.

The dirt modifieds will be geared to continue their strong car counts and close racing. Randy McDaniel holds the championship lead, however, defending champion Duane Cleveland and Ryan McDaniel are right on his heal. Of the five main events ran so far in 2014, Randy has one win, Cleveland one win and Ryan three triumphs. Dustin Massey and James Hite should be credited with determination and hard work as they both have also made all five starts this season.

Limited late model division has seen eight drivers all compete in every race this year. Ryan McDaniel has been the class of the field winning all three feature events. He holds a 14-point lead over Dominic Stone and 15 points over Duane Cleveland.

The street stock racing has been as close as it can get in 2014. This division has offered the closest most exciting racing all season and is evident in the point's standings. Orland's Jake Vantol and Phil Marino are tied at the top of the championship with 219 points. Chris Warner sits in third just one point behind. All three drivers have captured one feature win this season.

Howard Law is in control of the mini stock championship. His three wins place him seven points ahead of Jimmy Ford. Law has two wins this season while Ford has the other lone victory. James Foster and Shaun Merritt have been competitive and close to winning main events this year. This Friday marks the fourth point race of the year for this division.
