Three-Time Track Champion Sean Becker Back on Top

CHICO, CA (6-24-14) - It took Sean Becker nearly four months and two different sprint car teams to get back to a familiar spot at Silver Dollar Speedway, Tri-Counties Bank Friday night point championship leader. After the previous point race was concluded on June 13th, Becker held a three-point advantage over Princeton's Mason Moore. Becker drives the Menne Motorsports / Cherry St. Mini Storage #75 during Friday night point races at Chico. Placerville's Andy Gregg is just 13-points back. Orland's BJ Martin sits in the fourth spot and is 24-points behind. Fifth place Jonathan Allard is headed to this weekend's Dirt Cup in Washington and will consequently drop out of the top five.

This Friday nights race will coincide with a Butte County Sheriff's Search and Rescue fundraiser and membership drive hosted by the Speedway. Raffles and a silent auction will be conducted during the races to raise money for the search and rescue unit.

Pit gate will open at 4 pm. Front grandstand will open at 6 pm. Adult general admission is $13.00, seniors and juniors are $11.00, children ages 6 - 11 are $6.00. Kids five and under are free. For more detailed information please visit our website.

The Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA Midgets) will make a rare appearance at the speedway this Friday night. Local Capay native Taylor Simas, who is now moving to Santa Rosa, is fresh off his second career BCRA midget win at Petaluma Speedway. A few years ago Simas was a regular at Silver Dollar Speedway when he drove in the wingless spec sprint division. His first career win came at Orland Speedbowl. Also scheduled to appear is Fremont ace Shane Golobic. The multi-talented Golobic is one of the diverse open wheel drivers in the Country.

Two drivers are tied for the lead of the BCRA dirt division. Sean Dodenhoff and Shannon McQueen, both of Bakersfield, each have 295 points. Discovery Bay driver Barry Pries Jr. sits in the third spot with 259 points. Scott Kinney of Citrus Heights holds down the fourth spot with 252 points. Manteca resident, Nick Chivello, rounds out the top five with 250 total points. The BCRA midgets will return on September 4th as part of the 51st annual Gold Cup Race of Champions. The Winged Economy Sprints are scheduled to make their third start of the season this Friday night. The top five in points are only separated by six points. Jason Standley leads the charge with 92 points. Ron Wyman is right on his heels with 90 points. Scott Gannett is third with 89 points. Fourth place in points is Brandon Powell of Chico. Powell has won win this year. Living legend Rick Koster holds down the fifth place in points.

On Friday the California Vintage Hardtop Association will make their first of two scheduled appearances at Silver Dollar Speedway. This is a touring group running dirt or paved tracks all around Northern California. Most of the cars replicate the hardtops of the Vallejo era back in the sixties and seventies. Make it a point to attend their races as they put on a great show bringing back the memories! Website info is located at www.vallejohardtops.com/california-hardtop-association.html.
