Point Race #1 This Friday Night

CHICO, CA (3-12-14) - This Friday night, March 14th, the first of fifteen scheduled regular season point races at the Silver Dollar Speedway are set to begin with four classes of cars led by the winged 360 sprints. Joining the sprint cars are the street stocks, hobby stocks and modifieds.

Pit gate will open at 4 pm with front grandstand gate opening at 6 pm. Adult general admission is $13.00, juniors and seniors are $11.00, and kid's ages 6 to 11 are $6.00. Children five and under are free. Sprint car qualifying slated to start at 6:30 pm. For more information please visit our website at www.silverdollarspeedway.com

The sprint car charge will be led by Sean Becker and Andy Forsberg. The two former champions could not of had different outcomes this past weekend during the Silver Cup. Becker won on Friday night and scored a second place finish on Saturday. Forsberg flipped wildly on Friday night while leading the main event and then on Saturday had to pull off at the start of the feature due to a mechanical failure. Needless to say, Becker wants to continue what he started and Forsberg wants to start from scratch. Becker will be driving the Menne #75 again while Forsberg will pilot the popular Dukes of Hazzard themed General Lee #01 sprint car. Placerville's Andy Gregg, Chico's Brad Bumgarner and Paradise's John Michael Bunch are all geared to return this Friday night.

Becker has a chance to still collect an extra $2,000 bonus if he can win this Friday night and then on the night of March 28th. If he can win one of the two remaining, he will earn an extra $1,000. If any other driver can sweep the next two main events, then that driver would win an extra $1,000.

It's hard to predict who will be a title contender for the dirt modifieds, hobby stocks and street stocks until after this Friday night. Once we see who shows up and has a good night is usually a good indicator of their chances for the upcoming season. However, indications from the earlier practice date this season and the way the phones rang off the hook during the off season, all three divisions will see increased car counts and solid competition.

After this Friday nights race we will take next Friday night off. Yet, on Sunday there is a scheduled practice on Sunday March 23, from noon until 4pm. The following weekend we race Friday night, March 28th, and then on Saturday night, the World of Outlaws invades the track for one night only. The WoO will be joined by the Dwarf Cars on that night.
