Silver Cup Still Scheduled for This Weekend
CHICO, CA (3-3-14) - Even as rain continues to pound the North State on Monday morning, promoter Dennis Gage is optimistic about getting this weekends Silver Cup Race of Champions event in as scheduled. Its still so early in the week that if we get a break in the weather pattern we can dry out the pits in time, said Gage. The Speedway recommends instead of constantly calling the track office phone for updates, to follow updates on our Facebook page or Twitter (sdspeedway) and website. We will make a decision early enough to allow time for fans and teams to adjust, said Gage. An array of pumps are working 24/7 to get as much water as we can out of the pit area.
Silver Cup is scheduled for this Friday, March 7th, and Saturday, March 8th. Three divisions will highlight the weekend. The winged 360s, dirt modifieds and wingless sprints are all ready to pack the facility this weekend. Pit gate will open at 2 pm, front gate will open at 5 pm and qualifying for the winged sprint cars will start at 6:30 pm. Friday night general admission grandstand for adults is $15.00, junior and seniors $12.00, and kids $6.00. Saturday night general admission grandstand for adults is $20.00, junior and seniors $12.00, and kids $6.00.
Entries have poured in from all over the Western United States. Drivers from Washington, Oregon and Nevada along with California racers are all expected to converge this weekend at Chico. Silver Dollar Speedway track champions like Sean Becker, Andy Forsberg, Duane Cleveland, Randy and Ryan McDaniel are all ready to hit the track this weekend. The Nor-Cal Modified Challenge is scheduled for Saturday night while the Joe Hunt Magnetos Wingless Sprint Shootout Series will also be on hand.
Over a $30,000 combined purse is on the line for the two nights of racing. Entry forms are available for download off our website at www.silverdollarspeedway.com.
