Discounted pre-entries open for Lucas Oil Speedway Big Buck 50 Street Stock special

By Lyndal Scranton (Wheatland, MO) -- The biggest Street Stock race of the season - and one of the biggest in the country for the popular division - is just eight weeks away at Lucas Oil Speedway.

The Big Buck 50 Presented by Whitetail Trophy Hunt is set for Oct. 6-7. It promises to be the biggest and best yet since Craig Danuser of Whitetail Trophy Hunt and Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson put the special together in 2015.

Winner of the 50-lap feature on night two will earn $5,000 plus a free entry into the prestigious Whitetail Trophy Hunt, held in the Lake of the Ozarks area Nov. 11-13, valued at $3,000. First place in the Whitetail Trophy Hunt is worth $15,000 with $7,500 for second.

The 2016 Big Buck 50 champion cashed in big. Tim Brown of Stoutland, Mo., took home the $5,000 winner's share and the free Whitetail Trophy Hunt entry. Then Brown won another $2,000 when he bagged a buck good enough to finish ninth among 189 hunters. That also won Brown another free entry into the 2017 Whitetail Trophy Hunt.

Last winter, Brown said he figured the prize package wound up being worth about $13,000.

"The $5,000 to win the race and a $3,000 hunt, then I won a $3,000 hunt again next year and won $2,000 for (ninth place)," Brown said.

Street Stock drivers can enter for $100 per car prior to Oct. 1 with the fee $125 after that date. But Lucas Oil Speedway drivers in the Big O Tires Street Stock division can get the entire entry fee waived if they participate in at least 80 percent of this season's Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series events.

"Even though the race has only been around since 2015, it already has become one of our highlight events," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "We want to thank Craig Danuser and the entire team at Whitetail Trophy Hunt for their partnership in making this happen.

"We hope the drivers will take advantage of the early bird entry discount - or for our weekly drivers, the chance to get a free entry," Robinson added.

Action kicks off on Oct. 6 with a qualifying session and 10-lap heat races, helping to set the field for Saturday's 50-lap feature.

The 4th annual Lucas Oil MLRA Fall Nationals will run in conjunction with the Big Buck 50 and crown a season champion after the Saturday finale.

This November will mark the 29th year for the Whitetail Trophy Hunt. For more information about the hunt, set for Nov. 11-13, go to whitetail.net or call 1-800-633-4868. This tremendously popular hunt brings in participants from all over the United States and abroad. Entries are received on a first come, first served basis and limited to a maximum of 230 hunters.

Action at Lucas Oil Speedway resumes on Aug. 19 as TA/Petro along with the Ozarks CW & Ozarks Zone Present Fan Appreciation Night. There will be food and drink specials all night long. It also will be a pivotal evening as the chase for Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series championship resumes.

The Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds will be featured, with a special 25-lap, $750-to-win main event. The Big O Tires Street Stocks, Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods and Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models also will be in action.
