Double Features and Autograph Night Part One/Take Three up next for Birch Run Speedway

Birch Run Speedway officials, drivers, and fans were excited to resume racing action on Friday, July 11th, after two straight rainouts and a break to celebrate the Fourth of July. However, a persistent rain and a forecast for storms throughout the afternoon and evening forced management of the facility to suspend attempts to get the show in.

This Friday will see the return of the Limited Late Models and the Showcase Auto Sales Street Stocks on the four-tenths mile, and the Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks and Backroad Beaute' Salon American Race Trucks on the third-mile for double features and another attempt at an autograph session. The racing action will consist of qualifying, no heat races, and double features, with the 30-minute autograph session taking place between the start of the first set of second features.

With one race in the books, the Limited Late Model points show Dalton Worthy ahead of Josh Hahn by two points. Matt Mueller (-7 points), Scottie Ulman (-10 points), and Austin Edmonds (-16 points) complete the top five in the points chase.

The Showcase Auto Sales Street Stocks have also only competed once and feature winner on June 13th, John Leonard, leads Chaz Taylor (-11), Johnny Hayden (-14), Larry Plamondon (-18), and John Pollion (-21).

Two feature wins have propelled Jim Miller Jr. to a 26-point advantage over Lonnie Saumier Jr. in the Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks. Bruce Dunton Jr. (-36), Anthony Duvernois (-44), and Jeremy Johnson (-127) all have two chances on this night and the three remaining events to gain ground on the lead duo.

Two second places and a third place feature finish have put Charles Hamilton at the top of the points in the Backroad Beaute' Salon American Race Trucks. Hamilton leads teammate and mentor, Darren Burton, by 17 tallies, with Jason Dvorscak trailing by only 26. Ricky Gillet (-54) and Josh Shaw (-57) are in a tight battle for fourth and within striking distance of the leaders.

Tickets for this and any event at Birch Run Speedway and Event Center can be purchased at www.birchrunevents.com. Adult tickets are $15, Seniors and Veterans $12, and children 15 years and under are free with a paid adult ticket.
