Kinzer Cox Wins Herz Precision Parts Wingless Nationals

Saturday, August 27th, would be the return of the Herz Precision Part Wingless Nationals for the Wingless Sprint Series at Cottage Grove Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Royalty Core Custom Grille & Truck Parts IMCA Northern SportMods, and IMCA Sport Compacts were all on the card.
Kinzer Cox had the field covered in the Wingless Sprint Series main event. The Cottage Grove native dominated the distance to win his first career Herz Precision Parts Wingless Nationals. Rob Lindsey from Wilsonville and Salem’s Tim Alberding were second and third. Roseburg racer Kyle Alberding scored fourth over fifth finishing Justin Lemon of Cottage Grove.
Jesse Williamson, from Coburg, conquered the competition in the IMCA Modified main event. Springfield chauffeur Jake Mayden beat out Cottage Grove’s Braedon Hand for second. From Cottage Grove and driving for car owner Frank Brewer, Curtis Towns earned fourth, while grabbing fifth was Creswell racer, Paul Culp.
Bandon youngster Braden Fugate accomplished his mission of besting the field in the Late Model ranks.
He was followed by Kye Frick, from Sweet Home in second, and Albany’s Randy Barley, in third. Jake Mayden, pulling double duty, and Bryan Norton of Stayton was fourth and fifth in the finishing order.
Matt Sanders made the long journey from Brookings worth it, winning the feature for the Royalty Core Custom Grille & Truck Parts IMCA Northern SportMods. Kevin Williamson, of Coburg and driving for Mike Cummins, finished ahead of Lebanon’s Dalton Bloom to be credited with second. Daniel Ray, from Springfield, was fourth, while Eugene native Hunter Bloom got fifth.
Lastly, Burnie Bryant, representing Sutherlin, was the driver to park his entry in victory lane for the IMCA Sport Compacts. Lowell driver Zach Kintley took home third, while Eli Miller was third. Madilynn Ashley from Jasper and Salem’s Scarlett Drake were fourth and fifth.
Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing action on Friday, September 16th, and Saturday, the 17th, for Championship Weekend. Friday is Driver Appreciation Night, while Saturday will crown seven track champions. Divisions include the Western Sprint Tour 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, Todd’s Auto Body Limited Sprints, Royalty Core Custom Grille & Truck Parts IMCA Northern SportMods, Street Stocks, and IMCA Sport Compacts.
