Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway hosted the first two nights of the Dwarf Car Nationals with the Western States Dwarf Car Association on Friday, August 12th. Three divisions of Dwarf were on hand, including the Pro, Veteran, and Sportsman.
After a caution on the initial green flag, the Pro feature was a frenzy for thirteen laps. Mike Grenert, from Fairfield, California, took the reins of the pack on lap one only to be passed by Tommy Velasquez III on the second circuit. Velasquez, from Camarillo, California, held on for a couple of laps before Dylan Shrum reached the point on lap four.
Shrum of Lincoln, California, dealt with a pair of second-half cautions, but he was masterclass on the restarts. Dylan went on to dominate the balance of the distance to score the colossal triumph. Bay Point, California’s Danny Wagner, finished runner-up, followed by Tommy Velasquez III in third. Mike Grenert ended the evening in fourth, with fifth going to Josh King of Central Point. Sandy’s Justin DeMars was the winner of the consolation main event.
Mike Reeder, of Placerville, California, took care of business in the Veteran division. He managed to hold on at the line to beat out Yerington, Nevada’s Glenn Sciarani, for the victory. Hillsboro driver John Chrisman completed the podium in third. The rest of the top five was San Jose, California regular Mark Biscardi, followed by Stacy Woods, in fifth.
