Cottage Grove Speedway
RACE SEASON UPDATE
Many tracks around the country and even the West Coast have begun to open up, while we still have not been given approval here at Cottage Grove we are hopeful that we are close to being able to follow suit. Please know that we have been working incredibly hard on a plan to ease into opening, the last thing we want to do is burn any bridges or put anyone at risk by doing so before all of the requirements have been met, but we are beyond ready to get going!
Ideally we will be able to have a couple of practices the end of May and first part of June and then work into trying a couple of races without fans. There will be many stipulations tied to these events including a cap on car and crew count as well as all teams needing to provide themselves with certain cleaning and protective equipment. We will hopefully be able to lay all of this out for everyone by next week, if you raced a full season at Cottage Grove last year you will be the first to be getting a call about returning to racing here this summer, unfortunately having to cap things means that we can't just open the gates and invite you all as we would like to do so we will start with those that have always supported CG! Racing without fans is a scary proposition for the Speedway and while we feel that we NEED to get you all back out here we also cannot afford to go backwards by doing so, so these plans will all be tentative and much like this whole process has been, can change at any time. While I know there will be a lot of things that will be frustrating to you all, please know that everything we are doing is in what we feel is the best interest of the racetrack for not only 2020 but for many many years to come. Please be patient as we work through this and just know that I have not given up an will continue to fight for the racetrack and all of its drivers, fans, and crews.
I hope I see you all very soon.
