CGS Ladies Night Wins To Thompson, Ropchan, Culp, Evans, And Milligan

Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway got back into the racing groove after hosting Monday and Tuesday’s events for the Wild West Modified Shootout. The historic facility had Karts open the weekend up on Friday, June 28th, and Saturday the ¼-mile was in session for Ladies Night. Five classes were on the card on Saturday night including the Todd’s Auto Body Sprints, IMCA Sport Mods, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets.
Accumulating Friday night Kart wins were Austin Ellertson (Pee Wee), Mason King (5HP Intermediate), Carter Patterson (250cc), and Brody Sim (Open Kage). Harrisburg’s Tyler Thompson won his second Todd’s Auto Body Sprint Car main event win of 2019 on Saturday evening. Paul Culp, now living in Creswell, scored his second triumph of the campaign in the Late Model ranks.
Gavin Ropchan, hailing out of Veneta, produced his second win of the year against the IMCA Sport Mod division. Lebanon’s Justin Evans picked up a big win in the Street Stocks for the first time this season. Lastly, Eugene newcomer Mark Milligan tamed the Hornet class for the second race in a row.
Cottage Grove Speedway has a busy list of events on tap this Independence Day weekend for the 2019 Freedom Cup presented by Hoppes Construction. Independence Day, Thursday July 4th, will kick things off with the Todd’s Auto Body Sprint Cars, IMCA Sport Mods, and the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modifieds. Once all of the racing has concluded the night will be capped off with a massive Fireworks display.
On Thursday the Pit Gates open at 11:00 AM, Front Gates 3:30, and Time Trials at 5:30 with Racing beginning at 6:00. Tickets are $15.00 for Adults, Seniors/Juniors/Military $12.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children (5 & Under) are FREE.
All three divisions will return on Friday and Saturday nights. For the final two races the Pit Gates open at 1:00 PM, Front Gates 3:30, and Time Trials at 5:30 with Racing beginning at 6:00. Tickets are $13.00 for Adults, Seniors/Juniors/Military $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, and Children (5 & Under) are FREE.
