Cottage Grove, Oregon- Street Stocks would be the support class on Monday, June 23rd at Cottage Grove Speedway. Eight cars were in attendance and despite the light count they would put on a terrific race.
Cottage Grove’s Ray Bloom got in front first and led the opening lap. He would get caught up in a three-car battle and he would get passed on lap three by Dave Schmidt. Schmidt, from Junction City, would hold on to the coveted position until lap four. Happy Valley veteran Donald Schott was the one to make the maneuver. He would remain there the rest of the way to win his first race of the season at Cottage Grove Speedway.
Ray Bloom was second and Garrett Barth, from Creswell, placed third. Yakima, Washington traveler Melissa Adams got fourth while Eugene’s Richard Clink was fifth. Ray Bloom won the heat and the trophy dash while Hunter Bloom, from Eugene, was fast time of the night.
Cottage Grove Speedway returns to racing on Tuesday, June 26th with Wild West Modified Shootout and Quality RV Repair Hornets as the support class. Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 5:00 PM, with Racing beginning at 6:30 PM.
