Cox, Frick, And Evans Get Saturday May 27th CGS Wins

Cottage Grove, Oregon- A stellar field of cars would be in attendance on Saturday, May 27th, at Cottage Grove Speedway. With the pits packed the historic ¼-mile clay oval hosted the first of two nights of racing for the 2017 Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic. Classes in action included the 360 Sprints, Late Models, and Street Stocks.
Boise, Idaho driver Logan Forler and Justyn Cox would put on quite the show in the 360 Sprint feature. Forler would lead for much of it but lost the position to Cox in lapped traffic with less than ten laps remaining. Cox, of Clarksburg, California, would hold off all attempts of being overtaken and finished in first.
Logan Forler placed second followed by Medford’s Roger Crockett in the Roger Henderson owned entry. Fourth and fifth place went to Washington natives Jason Solwold, of Burlington driving for Mike Anderson and Monica Baca, and Snohomish chauffeur Reece Goetz.
A great car count was on hand for the Late Models with eighteen total cars signing in for the night. Kye Frick scored a big win in the main event as he was able to work his way around traffic. The Sweet Home driver would record his first win of the 2017 campaign.
Justin Evans and T.J. Langan made it an entertaining race in the Street Stock main event. Langan, of Fall Creek and driving for Mike Britton, returned to division he once dominated for a rare appearance. Evans, in the familiar Al Flora entry, managed to negotiate Langan after a lengthy side-by-side dual to gain the lead and eventually the victory.
