Cottage Grove, Oregon- Although it isn’t the richest paying race runs the most laps one event that symbolizes the Cottage Grove Speedway the very most is undoubtedly Historical Night. It is a night in which we pause and reflect on the sixty-year legacy of one of the most iconic racing facilities in the entire country. Displays of pictures, programs, articles, and more will be available for viewing that chronicles the long and storied history of “The Grove” as will the annual ceremony which will induct the Class of 2016 into the Wall of Fame. Classes that will complement the evening include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Late Models, IMCA Sport Mods, and the Quality RV Repair Hornets.

But before any of that starts the Kage Karts will kick the entire weekend off on Friday, August 12th. For the Kart races General Admission is FREE and Pit Passes are $10.00 and Car and Driver fees will be $35.00. The Pit Gate will open up around 4:00 PM and the Pit Meeting is at 6:00 PM with Hot Laps and Racing to follow.

Roger Crockett boasts the most wins in the 360 Sprint division this year. Crockett has made three trips to victory lane over the course of the campaign. Single-race winners include Trey Starks, Jason Solwold, and Kyle Miller.

In the IMCA Modifieds, there is a three-way tie for most wins and all three drivers have three triumphs. They are Collen Winebarger, Mark Wauge, and Jesse Williamson. Jake Mayden and Craig Hanson each have two victories while Curtis Towns, Kinzer Cox, Mark Carrell, and Kellen Chadwick have all won once.

In the Late Models Ron Brewster still paces the field with his three victories. Britton Donahoo remains the only other multi-feature victor with his two trips to the winner’s circle. Darren Coffell, Rob Campos, John Duty, Jesse Williamson, and Brian Cronk all share the common trait of being drivers that have one win to their credit.

In the IMCA Sport Mods Jorddon Braaten has been a juggernaut. Braaten has finished in first place six times and boasts a perfect record. Daniel Ray, Jimmy Lipke, and Chris Frisbie have gotten the job done one time each when Braaten has been out of town.

Last but not least is the Quality RV Repair Hornets. Joe Maricle still is at the top of the list, with seven victories, over last week’s winner Josh Corley’s five. Brad Moffett and K.C. Scott are the only two single-race victors.

Times for Saturday are Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM, Front Gates 4:00, and Racing is scheduled to start around 6:30. Tickets are Adults $13.00, Juniors/Seniors $10.00, Youth (6-12) $5.00, Family Pass $30.00, and Children 5 or under are FREE. As will happen all year long in honor of our 60th Anniversary the 60th fan through the Front Gate gets in for FREE. For more information log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com.
