Inside Line Promotions – COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (April 20, 2016) – A broken weld around a header may have cost Patrick Dills a win in the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints at Cottage Grove Speedway last Saturday.

Dills, the defending track champion in the division, started the night by setting fast time during qualifications around the high-banked, quarter-mile track. He followed with a runner-up finish in the dash and with a heat race victory.

“The car popped out of gear coming to the checkers in the heat so we had some work to do,” Dills said.

Dills rolled off eighth in the feature following an eight-car feature inversion.
“I was up to second in the first six laps and was going for the lead and a weld broke around the header and I knew I had to pull off … boy I didn’t want to,” he said.

Dills was credited with a 10th-place result.

He will be back in action at Cottage Grove Speedway this Saturday with the 360 sprint division, which will be sanctioned by the Interstate Sprint Car Series. The ISCS hasn’t held an event since 2013 and the last time they visited Cottage Grove Speedway was in 2011.

Dills posted an eighth-place finish with the 360 sprint division at Cottage Grove on April 9.

“Our team worked hard over the offseason,” he said. “Our goal is to win in the 360s and after the opening week, I have the confidence we can get that done.”
