Cottage Grove, Oregon- On Saturday August 1st Cottage Grove Speedway will be hosting a very special event. The annual Wallbanger Cup is a Street Stock race ran in honor of the late Mark Howard. Howard was a former racer and trackside vendor that was a major influence to so many drivers in the Pacific Northwest. Also on the card will be the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, and Late Models.
The race is also a Pepsi Family Night. We will offer our normal family pass for two Adults and up to four Youths, for just $30.00, plus complimentary small soft drink beverages will be included with the admission courtesy of Pepsi.
Chris Sine has put together an amazing record together in 2015 in the Street Stocks. In eight starts he has won on six occasions. This would by far be his biggest victory of the campaign. Steve Dubisar and Evan Britton each have one win.
Dave Hibbard still leads the win column in the Clark Printing Extreme Sprints with his four triumphs. Colby Carter won his second race of the year last weekend and is joined by single race winners Patrick Dills and Orion Redmond.
After a week off the IMCA Modifieds return to CGS. Jesse Williamson has managed to win the most times this year with his four victories. Curtis Towns and Kinzer Cox have accumulated three wins each. Jason Kocks, Braedon Hand, and Mark Carrell have gotten the job done once.
In the Late Models Curtis Towns has reigned supreme with five victories over the course of the season. Jesse Williamson has three total and is the only other winner while Bricen James, Joey Tanner, Justin Duty, Brady Sell each have one.
