Cottage Grove, Oregon- The Cottage Grove Speedway is no doubt the “Sprint Car Capital of Oregon” and it could be said of the entire Pacific Northwest. The 360 Sprints have become not only a staple but a very popular class for fans of the historic venue. This class has thrilled fans for decades and continues to bring fans to their feet as they battle on the historic ¼-mile clay oval.

“We are fortunate to have very good local races here,” commented Cottage Grove Speedway General Manager Heather Boyce, “our car count was solid all year last season and I hope we can grow our numbers. I know there are some new as well as older drivers putting their stuff together so they can race this year.”

Over the last few season Roger Crockett has dominated the 360 Sprints. In 2013 he had one his most successful outings at CGS by not only winning every single 360 point event he showed up to but even winning every race against the likes of the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region as well as the ASCS-National Tour.

Roger Crockett won twelve out of the fourteen scheduled races. Crockett was absent for two events which would produce two other feature winners, Garen Linder and Rob Held, in 2013. 2012 would see five different feature winners in ten races. That year Kyle Miller put together the most main event wins with four over Crockett’s three.

With Roger Crockett’s title last season it marked the fourth time he has managed to do so in five seasons. In the last ten years there have been five different champions with all but two, Marvin Smith in 2005 and Danny Horner the following season, winning more than one championship crown in that time span.

“It’s really the perfect track for sprints,” Boyce would continue, “Roger Crockett dominates here but always in his post-race interviews he always he points out how it’s never easy to win here. That tells you the level of competition we have here.”

2014 will see seventeen 360 Sprint races at “The Grove”. Those seventeen races include two nights of the Marvin Smith Memorial Grove Classic, two nights of the American Sprint Car Series-National Tour, and four ASCS-Northwest Region events.

Be sure and don’t miss a minute of the action at the Cottage Grove Speedway this season. To find out the latest news and information regarding CGS log on to www.cottagegrovespeedway.com.
