Jarrett Martin
Jarrett Charges from 17th to 5th on Newly Constructed 1/7th Mile Track at Canyon Speedway Park
The newly constructed 1/7th mile track inside the infield of Canyon Speedway Park debuted Saturday for the Power 600 Series.
21 cars checked in for the Easter Eggstravaganza. There would be a little twist to pill draw as drivers would have to hunt for one of 26 eggs that had a number inside of it. Jarrett would end up finding the one that had number 25 in it. Which would line him up 6th in his 7 car Heat race.
The Heat race would not go well for Jarrett. He was off the pace to start the race and would end up pulling off the track as he completed lap 1.
Jarrett and Steve would quickly go to work to diagnose the issue as an injection problem and get it corrected within 30 minutes. But, this would cause Jarrett to start at the tail end of the Main.
Jarrett would start last in the 17 car Main event and the first caution would come out due to a 3 car wreck in turn 1. Jarrett would still restart 17th on the restart, but would pick up 3 positions and move into 14th to complete lap 1. Jarrett would move into 13th with a pass on the inside on the front stretch heading into turn 1 on lap 7. Jarrett would pick up another position on lap 11 with a pass in turns 1 and 2. With 13 laps completed the 2nd caution of the night would fly for a spin in turn 4. Jarrett would restart in 11th. He was all over the back of the 7 car for 10 and was able to rocket down the front stretch when a lane opened up to pick up 4 spots and move into 7th. Jarrett would fall back to 8th when he left the bottom open for the 04J to take advantage of going into turn 1. The 3rd caution of the night would come with 7 laps remaining due to a spin in turn 2. Jarrett would restart in 8th and with 6 laps left Jarrett would have to cut through the infield to narrowly miss the 04J as he spun out right in front of him in turn 2, bringing out the yellow. We would only complete one lap before the last caution would fly for a car spun out in turn 4. Jarrett would line up 5th with 5 to go and he gave it everything he had to try make his way forward but would run out of laps bringing home a solid top 5 finish and earned the Sears Garage Door Hard Charger.
