The 1st Win!!!!
The only thing that can be said right about now - is Hell Ya, Can't Believe It and Hot Damn!!!!
Going into this past weekend emotions stirred in me as they always do when USAC/CRA series heads to Canyon Speedway. Every trip there probably gets a little easier, but overall, just stepping foot into those pits brings on flashbacks and haunts me the entire time we are there. This trip, I swore that I would cowboy up and venture over to the grandstands and actually watch the race. ( something that when at Canyon, I do not do... I hang out at the rig and try to watch from the front seat. ) i.e.: For those people that are somewhat new to Moose Racing. Canyon Speedway is where my life draastically changed. Walking back to the Moose Pits at a practice night there 3 years ago, a push truck ventured into an area that was not grated for vechiles, and ran me over from behind. 2 months in a Phoenix rehab, a year of rehab and today I am still here to cheer on Moose Racing with all my love and dedication...
This trip also presented challenges for the team, as on the trip over, Dave, Jake, Chris and Mallory were traveling down Highway 10 when a few cars in front of them, sent a carpet flying threw the air and into the traffic. Cars swerving and oulling over to the side of the road and Silverado truck obiviously wasn't paying attention and came barreling thru still at speed hit and launched air born, hitting Dave's Tahoe on the passenger side, right by Jakes head and then the truck rolled over and landed on it's roof. The good Lord was lookig after them, as He did me, 3 years before and asides from some damage to Dave's truck, they continued on and rolled into the racetrack even more determined to make the weekend the best it could be..
Sept 29th and October 1 st make up the Arizona Hall of Fame race - this year it clebrated the accomplishments of Jimmy Blanton. Jimmy's name in the history of Arizona sprint car racing is topped by none and it was an honor to be competing in this event that honored his name.
NIght one -- 22 sprint cars .. and Jake was going to be the 3rd car out to race againest the qualifying clock. Holding on to quick time until the 2nd to last car, Chrlie Davis took to the track and received the Quick Time award,
recessing Jake to 2nd quick.... He would have his work cut out for him in the Heat race needing to run in the top 4 after starting 6th... up to 2nd and there it is -- A Direct transfer to the A Main. As promised I traveled over the grandstands and settled in to watch Jake lineup in the 22 car field in 6th. Green flag drops. lap one and he's up 1 spot, a couple more laps, he's running 4th and steadily gaining on the front 3. With wheels in the air and looking like a Moose On The Loose Jake is edging so steadily into the top 3. He has the 92 Huntington Beach Glass, Triple X, Rc Engine on a rail.
He's now running 2nd, and leader Austin WIlliams has a miscue coming off of turn 2 and Jake makes the pass!!! He's in the lead and a yellow flag is flyng with just a few laps to go.... who can sit in the stands... it's time to pace!!! Restart, coming off of turn 2 Jake hits a rut and breaks the momentum giving MIke Spencer time to gain ground and then making a beautiful slide job, too bad, it was for the lead!!! But luck be on Team Moose's side and a another yellow flag comes out, this time Jake holds on and 6 laps later he has his 1st USAC/CRA Main Event VIctory!!!!! Come to find out and the team gathered on the front straightaway to celebrate that when he hit the rut several laps before the front end felt locked up, probably loosing the power steering and Jake with adrenaline flowing was able to wrestle the 92 and #parkedit!!!!!
Jake and Moose Racing are so excited to take all of our sponsors to Victory Lane: Huntington Beach Glass & MIrror, Phil & Eileen King, Clackamas Rigging, Specialized Powder Coating, XXX, Lucas OIl,Rc Performance, Kistler Engines, #Lightuptheworld, Circle Track, Extreme Mufflers, Saldana, Keizer Wheels, WEM, Rod End Supply, Wilwood, Schoenfeld Headers, Schroeder, King Products....
