BOYD'S SPEEDWAY JOINS 411 WITH NEW CRATE LATE MODEL RULES FOR 2020 EVENTS
Boyd's Speedway joins 411 with the NEW 2020 Crate Late Model Rules Package. To keep the cost of racing down and competition tighter Boyd's Speedway has made changes to the Rules Package for Crate Late Models. Racing Events in the Crate Late Models are also on the table for the 2020 Season. Stay Tuned.
New Rules are as follows.
2020 CRATE LATE MODELS RULES
604 Late Model Rules
All Cars are subject to inspection by Boyd’s Speedway at any time during the event
Boyd’s Speedway reserves the right to confiscate any suspicious, or deemed illegal components
Boyd’s Speedway reserves the right to alter or amend these rules at any time in the interest of fair competition.
Chevrolet Performance Crate Engine Part #88958604/19318604 Weight #2300. 25 lb weight break for HANS device.
604 Engines are sealed at the Intake Manifold, Cylinder Head, Front Cover, and Oil Pan with Special Twist off Bolt Heads from GM. Original GM Seal Bolts, or Crate USA are the Only Seals Allowed.
All Crate Engines must remain Stock as they came sealed from the factory. They must not be Altered, Modified or changed from Factory Specs. All engines will be checked by the Latest GM Tech Manual.
No changes are allowed to the engine - including but not limited to Intake Manifold, Heads, Valve Covers, Front Cover, Oil Pan, Harmonic Balancer, or any other part or parts on or in the Engine
Engine's GM Serial Number, and when applicable, Crate USA build certification number must be clearly visible.
Anyone found in violation of Engine Rules and/or Factory Specs inside the sealing system of the engine will result in the Driver and/or Owner being banned from competition at Boyd’s Speedway for 12 months from the date of infraction and pay 1,500.00 dollars fine before being able to return to competition.
Anyone found in violation of Engine Rules and/or Factory Specs outside the sealing bolts of the engine will result in the Driver and/or Owner being Disqualified for that Event and will pay a 500.00 dollar fine before being allowed to compete at the next Event
No Vacuum Pumps
Any 4 Barrell Carb, must be Needle, Seat and Accelerator Pump Style .
Engine must be Naturally Aspirated
May use one 1 inch, One Piece, Carb Spacer (.040 Tolerance Maximum) with Two Standard Gaskets (Maximum 0.070 Inch Thick) One Gasket Between Intake To Spacer And One Gasket Between Spacer To Carb. At No Point May Spacer Extend Into Intake Manifold Area
Any Electronic Distributor Type Ignition System. NO CRANK TRIGGER,DISTRIBUTORLESS MULTI-COIL, OR MAGNETO IGNITION SYSTEM.
No Electronic Traction Control Devices
All Cars must have a working Starter
Cast or Aluminum Water Pump. Stock Mounted Water Pump and Fans Only. No Electric Fans. No Electric Water Pump.
Collector Type Headers Required. Must have four (4) tubes into on (1) Collector of a consistent diameter. NO TRI Y HEADERS. NO 180 DEGREE HEADERS NO MERGED HEADERS. NO SQUARE TUBE HEADERS
An Approved Fuel Cell (32 Gallon Max) Must be securely mounted in the Trunk area of the car, inside a .20 gauge metal box supported by a minimum of Two 2" By 1/8" Steel Straps. All Fuel Cells must be completely Visible from rear of car.
Racing Gas or E85 Allowed. Fuels must have a specific gravity of LESS than (Gas .745 / E85 .786 Anything over will be Disqualified. NO NITROUS OXIDE. NO PROPYLENE OXIDE. NO NITROETHANE. NO MTBE.
Fuel Pump must be Mechanical, Cam Driven, or Belt Driven. NO ELECTRIC Fuel Pumps
Power steering pump may be mounted on the front of motor or on reverse mount.
Engine Setback will be 6" from Center of Top Ball Joint to The #1 Spark Plug with a 1 " Tolerance
Lucas Oil Body Rules
8 " Spoiler and Sides Only
All Frames must be of steel construction
Square or Rectangular Frame must be a minimum of 2" BY 2" Material .083 Wall Thickness.
29 . Round Tube Frame must have a minimum of 1 3/4 " Outside Diameter, .083 Wall Thickness.
Standard Late Model Suspensions Only. NO SPRING LOADED OR SHOCK TYPE 4 BAR RODS. ONLY STANDARD SOLID BAR 4 BAR RODS. NO TORSION BAR FRONT OR REAR SUSPENSION. Sway Bar Ok.
Standard one piece Bird Cages. NO SPLIT BIRD CAGES.
Standard late Model Suspensions equals (1) Shock per Wheel, except on Left Rear. Left Rear is Allowed (2) Shocks One in Front of Rearend and One behind. Shocks must be mounted Vertical to Axle Tube.
Chassis Brackets Must Be Fixed. No Movement.
Shocks, At Any Position On The Race Car, Including Lift Bar or Torque Arm Shocks Must Be Constructed Of Magnetic Steel or Aluminum. No Thru Rod Style Shocks Allowed. No Remote Adjusting type Shocks. No Inerter or J-Damper of any type Allowed.
Minimum Wheel Base 103 "
All cars must have a suitable steel roll cage protecting the drivers compartment, including headrest.
Any Transmission (must have one forward and one reverse gear in working order) NO STRAIGHT DRIVES OR IN AND OUT BOXES
Driveshafts must be painted white . Carbon Fiber are Allowed.
Steel Brake Rotors Only NO CARBON FIBER. NO TITANIUM OR OTHER EXOTIC MATERIAL BRAKE SYSTEMS.
Any brand or type of wheel allowed. Must be mounted with lug nuts. Maximum Wheel width 14". NO KNOCK OFF OR CENTER LOCK WHEELS.
Hoosier 1350 or 1600 / American Racer 48 or 56
RF and LF 1350/1600 or 48/56
RR and LR1600 or 56 Only
All tires are subject to be checked with a durometor.
Anyone in violation of tire rules will be Disqualified from the event and will have to pay a $500 fine before being allowed to race at Boyd’s Speedway again.
This Class will Qualify and Race on the same 4 tires per event.
All classes will adhere to Tire Testing policy as stated in Boyd’s Speedway’s General Rules.
Protest rules for both 602 and 604 Late Models
$750 for complete teardown
$600 going to the winner of the protest.
$150 to the Tech man.
