Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series Headlines Upcoming Gobbler at Boyd’s Speedway

(RINGGOLD, GEORGIA)  A November tradition will continue next weekend, as the annual running of ‘The Gobbler’ will take place from November 12-14 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia!  The Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series will be a part of the action-packed weekend at the Chattanooga-area facility and will sanction a one-day show next Saturday, November 14 paying $5,000 to the winner.  A complete program will be on tap for the Super Late Models featuring Group A & B qualifying, heat races, and a 40-lap main event.

This will mark the inaugural visit by the Fall Nationals tour to Boyd’s Speedway, but the track has a long history of hosting both Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals shows.  Previous Southern Nationals winners at Boyd’s include Randy Weaver ('14), Casey Roberts ('15), David Payne ('16), Brandon Overton ('17), and Vic Hill ('18), while Vic Hill ('13), Dale McDowell ('14), Donald McIntosh ('15), Mike Marlar ('16), and Brandon Overton ('17) all reached Spring Nationals victory lane at the storied track, which is located right on the Tennessee/Georgia state line.

The annual ‘Gobbler’ weekend will kick off on Thursday night with an open practice session for all cars from 5:30pm-10:00pm.  On Friday, the ‘Joe Lee Johnson Memorial’ for Late Models will pay out a $2,000 top prize, while the Front Wheel Drive class will pay $1,000 to win and B-Hobby will shell out a $500 paycheck.  The Crate Late Model and Sportsman divisions will also qualify and run their heat races on Friday evening.  The Super Late Models will be able to practice throughout the night.

Along with the $5,000 to win ‘Gobbler’ for the Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series on Saturday, the Crate Late Models will run their consolation events and their $3,000 to win main event.  The Sportsman class will do the same, as their B-Mains will lead into a feature event paying $3,000 to the winner as well.  Also on Saturday’s card is the A-Hobby ($750 to win) and a 100-lap Enduro ($1,250 to win).  If you can’t make it out to the track on Saturday, all of the wheel-to-wheel racing action will be broadcast LIVE to subscribers on www.FloRacing.com!

Pit admission into Boyd’s Speedway on Friday is $30.00 for ages 13 and up, $15.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE for children 5 and under.  Grandstand admission for Friday is $15.00 for ages 13 and up, $5.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE for children 5 and under.  On Saturday, patrons will be allowed into the pit area for $40.00 for ages 13 and up, $15.00 for kids 6-12, and FREE for children 5 and under, while grandstand admission will be $20.00 for ages 13 and up, $5.00 for kids ages 6-12, and FREE for children 5 and under.  The Driver’s Meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm on Friday and 5:00pm on Saturday with racing to get underway shortly afterwards on both occasions.

Through three Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series races so far in 2020, it is a tight battle atop of the point standings for the second year miniseries.  Vic Hill, of Mosheim, Tennessee, leads the chase by only four markers over both David Payne and Donald McIntosh.  Joey Standridge and Stacy Boles round out the top five in the current series point standings.  Winners this year on the tour include Mike Marlar (Smoky Mountain Speedway), Donald McIntosh (Tazewell Speedway), and Brandon Overton (Tri-County Race Track).

The tire rule for ‘The Gobbler’ at Boyd’s Speedway will be Hoosier 1350 and 1600; American Racer 48 and 56.  The entry fee will be $100.00 and transponders will be available to rent.  Any driver not advancing into the feature field will receive $75.00 in tow money.  Additional information concerning Boyd’s Speedway can be found by pointing your web browser to www.boydsspeedway.myracepass.com.
