Airborne Announces Major Mid-Week Event
PLATTSBURGH- The Super DIRTcar Series will invade the newly covered four-tenths mile, Airborne Park Speedway, for the first time ever on Thursday, July 6.
The Super DIRTcar Series is the premier traveling series for Big-Block Modifieds in the nation. Some of the best dirt modified drivers in the country will converge on the fresh dirt at Airborne for an outstanding night of racing.
“I’m excited to have one of the premier DIRT series coming to Airborne next season,” Promoter John Walker said. “The Big Blocks draw great car counts and have a great fan base that follows.”
Big Block Modifieds are similar to 358 and Sportsman cars that have competed at Airborne for the last 10 years. The main difference between them being the motors. The motors are predominately Big Block Chevrolet motors making upwards of 800 horse power saddled into a 2500-pound car. Airborne's weekly racers will be also competing against the SDS stars hoping that their home track advantage will be enough to overcome the difference in their smaller 358 cubic inch motors.
The Big Block Modifieds run events from mid-February through late October. Last season, events were held in Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, New York, Ontario and Quebec.
More details will follow for this event. Stay tuned for more announcements on special events for 2017. To stay up to date visit airborneparkspeedway.com or Facebook at Airborne Park Speedway.
