USAC Midwest Thunder Speed2 Midgets
Series Information
Since 2016 the USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets series has partnered with the United States Auto Club (USAC) to provide a cost-effective rules package for open wheel, dirt track midget racing across Indiana and Ohio. Serving as either a headliner or support class at premier racetracks, the MTM series has a proven ability to provide full car counts (average car count in 2024 - 23, with twelve of our 19 races having over 20 cars, and two races with 27), exciting racing action, and strong fan support. 2024 was our most successful season yet! Highlights included a points race settled on the last night of the season among three drivers; serving as a support series for the USAC National Sprint series on three occasions, including one during Sprint Speedweek; supporting the Ohio Sprint Speedweek at Millstream, adding new tracks including Lawrenceburg, Millstream, and Ohio Valley; and making our second visit to Eldora Speedway for Family Fun Night.
Drivers ranges from 15 to 73 years of age, primarily competing for family-owned teams with crews made up of parents, siblings and friends, averaging nearly 5 pit passes per car, typically generating back gate revenues over $4,000 per race, covering nearly all of our standard purse. We pride ourselves on the family atmosphere, from a group united by their love of racing. Our self-contained program handles all pre-race promotions, tech inspections and assists with lineups, resulting in minimal burden to track staff. We welcome opportunities to interact with fans and help drive track front gate revenues through aggressive social media campaigns and on-site promotions! In 2024 MTM secured sponsorship that allowed us to pay out our largest points fund yet, as well as heat race bonuses, “Quick Time' fast qualifier, hard charger, hard luck and 'Precision Move' awards, to build upon the track purse and create additional incentives for racer participation.
For 2025 we have a 25 race schedule at many of the most prestigious race facilities in Ohio and Indiana with four appearances with the USAC National Sprint cars, three Ohio All Star Speedweek appearances.
