Cottage Grove, Oregon- Cottage Grove Speedway held the final points race of the 2019 Interstate Sprint Car Series season on Sunday, September 1st. It was the second consecutive night of action at the famed ¼-mile clay oval. A total of twenty-seven entries were in the pit area from the states of Oregon, Washington, California, and Idaho.

Tanner Holmes took full advantage of his front-row starting position. The Jacksonville teenager led the opening lap and stayed in the spot for some time. Shortly after a lap four restart, Holmes went back to second after Kinzer Cox made a lightning move on his inside.

The Cottage Grove regular, of Cox, was hunted down and overtaken on lap seventeen by Tanner Holmes. Holmes led the rest of the distance to win his sixth race of the year and his third ISCS triumph at CGS. When all the dust settled Tanner was declared the champion and with his victory became the most winningest driver in tour history.

Kinzer Cox was a respectable second over third finishing Tyler Thompson, of Harrisburg. Castro Valley, California traveler Emily Williams came across the stripe in fourth while Bailey Hibbard, of Medford, completed the top five finishing order, in fifth.

Qualifying was split up into four groups. Quickest timers were Tanner Holmes, Meridian, Idaho teenager Tyler Driever, Kinzer Cox, and Tyler Thompson. Achieving heat race wins were Emily Williams, Ricky Ashley of Thurston, Cox, and Eagle Point rookie Johnny Burke. Roseburg’s Kyler Barraza was triumphant in the consolation main event.

The Interstate Sprint Car Series may be done with point racing, but they do have a couple of non-point affairs coming up on the schedule. The first of the two is this Wednesday, September 6th at Willamette Speedway, in Lebanon, as the support division when the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series is in town. The final round of competition is Saturday, September 28th at Coos Bay Speedway.
