Labor Day Weekend for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series Goes at Ponderosa September 2, Boyd’s September 3, and Tazewell September 4

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (August 29, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will have a busy 2022 Labor Day weekend that will see the weekend begin on Friday September 2 at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY for the $10,000 to win 24th Annual Pete Abell Memorial, then Saturday September 3 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA for the $5,000 to win 2nd Annual Labor Day Showdown, and conclude Sunday September 4 at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the $5,044 to win 14th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series will be at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 2 for the 24th Annual Pete Abell Memorial and will be featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, Impact Race Gear B-Mains, and the 50 lap, $10,000 to win/$500 to start 24th Annual Pete Abell Memorial main event. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will also be in action in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Last Chance Heats, and the 20 lap, $1,500 to win/$150 to start feature event. Other divisions in action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 2 will be the track’s Crate Late Models ($1,500 to win), Super Stocks ($1,000 to win), and Mini Stocks (FWD & RWD) ($500 to win). Activities at Ponderosa Speedway for the 24th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on Friday September 2 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 2:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps and time trials beginning at 7:20 p.m. Ticket prices at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 2 in the general admission area will be $30 for adults (children ages 10 and under are free), while a pit pass will be $45 for adults.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will roll into Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Saturday September 3 for the 2nd Annual Labor Day Showdown and will be featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, and the 40 lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start 2nd Annual Labor Day Showdown main event. Other divisions in action at Boyd’s Speedway on Saturday September 3 will be the track’s Crate 604 Late Models ($1,250 to win), Sportsman 602 ($1,000 to win), Front Wheel Drives ($400 to win), B-Hobby ($400 to win), Crown Vics ($200 to win), Beginner Sportsman ($150 to win), and Jr. Front Wheel Drives ($75 to win), plus the evening will include a firework’s show. Activities at Boyd’s Speedway for the 2nd Annual Labor Day Showdown on Saturday September 3 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m. and the general admission area open at 5:30 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:15 p.m., with practice laps and time trials beginning at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices at Boyd’s Speedway on Saturday September 3 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults (children ages 6-12 $5, children ages 5 and under free), while a pit pass will be $40 for adults (children ages 6-12 $15, children ages 5 and under free).

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will conclude the Labor Day weekend at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN on Sunday September 4 for the 14th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial and will be featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, and the 44 lap, $5,044 to win/$450 to start 14th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial main event. Other divisions in action at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 4 will be the track’s Sportsman, Classic, Street Stock, and Four Cylinder divisions, plus the evening will include a firework’s show. Activities at Tazewell Speedway for the 14th Annual Buddy Rogers Memorial on Sunday September 4 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m. and general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice laps and time trials beginning at 7:15 p.m. Ticket prices at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 4 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, while a pit pass will be $35.

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of each event and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600, LM40 (Crate 21 and 55 also are fine) or American Racer 48 and 56 (there is no limit on the number of tires used; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 at each event and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at each track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field at Ponderosa Speedway will receive $75 tow money, while any driver not making the 22-car starting field at Boyd’s Speedway and Tazewell Speedway will receive $50 tow money.

The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the Ponderosa Speedway event on September 2 and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier M30s, M60, Medium, Hard; American Racer Hard and Extra Hard (only Hoosier M60, Hard, and American Racer Extra Hard are allowed as right-rear tire options; grooving and siping of tires are allowed per UMP rulebook; UMP 2022 body rules apply; no limit of tires used per night). The entry fee will be $40 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $30 tow money.
