NSTA Top Speed Modified Tour

John Robbins Aquires Top Speed Modified Series

To the entire Top Speed Modified Family,

Today is an exciting day for the future of the Top Speed Modified Tour. I have purchased the series from Dave Muzzillo and ICAR.

I want to say a big thank you to Dave. Dave has a great vision for short track racing. He cares deeply about this series and its future. I really appreciate Dave's trust in me to lead the series going forward.

For most of you, I am a complete stranger. My name is John Robbins. I've grown up in short track racing and there's nothing on the planet I love more (except my wife). My Uncle and Aunt were Rex and Becky Robbins, founders of the American Speed Association. When I wasn't on the road with ASA, I was at Anderson Speedway. I learned about business, racing and promotion from my family and a lot of other smart people in the industry.

As a teenager I can remember watching the ICAR Jasper Modified Tour and the USA Modified Tour at Anderson. Wow! It was some of the greatest racing all season. I've always believed modified racing is one of the most exciting and underappreciated forms of racing in the country. I am proud and honored to have the opportunity to lead the best modified tour in the country.

You are probably wondering what does this mean for you? Here's what you need to know:

  1. My company, the National Short Track Alliance (NSTA), will now sanction the series.
  2. It will be known as the NSTA Top Speed Modified Tour until I sign a series sponsor.
  3. The final 2017 schedule will be released in the next few weeks.
  4. There are no major changes to the rules for 2017. I am planning to update and clarify some race procedures, but nothing else. Bristol rules will be released in early January.
  5. New branding, updates to payouts, changes to entry fees/forms, new licensing requirements, series sponsorships and more will be announced by the end of January.

I am sure all of you will have a ton of questions. I may not have an answer for everything right now. Please be patient. There are a lot of things in the works behind-the-scenes.

Keep checking Facebook and the Top Sped Website for the latest updates.

Everything I am doing is intended to make the Top Speed Modified Tour even better in 2017 and beyond.

If you are a current driver or car owner, I can't wait to speak with you. You are what makes this series special. Thank you.

If you have raced with Top Speed in the past, I want to hear from you too. I would like to personally invite you back to the tour in 2017.

Let's Go Racing!
