EASTERN MIDGET TITLE RACE COMES DOWN TO SEASON FINALE AT KENLY ON SATURDAY

Defending USAC Eastern Midget Champion Chris Lamb and Andrew Layser will square off for the 2016 title Saturday when the series concludes at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C.

Layser trails Lamb by 14 points entering the race while third-ranking Jessica Bean holds some hope that she can overcome her 47-point deficit behind Lamb.

Lamb, of Colfax, N.C., is back atop the USAC Eastern Midget series standings after winning the first of two 25-lappers at Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania, Va. Saturday. He finished second to Nolan Allison of Greensboro, N.C. in race two.

Lamb trailed Layser for nine laps in the opener, then led the final 16 laps to beat Allison, Kyle Resco, Sam Hatfield and Layser.

In the closer, Allison led lap one, Layser led the next 11, then Allison recaptured the point on lap 13, leading the rest of the way to beat Lamb, Resco, Layser and Hatfield to the line.

Toni Breidinger of Hillsborough, Calif. continues to lead the USAC Western HPD Pavement standings after winning last Friday night at Las Vegas, Nev. and finishing second Saturday at the LVMS Bullring.

Breidinger tied Ashley Hazelton atop USAC’s all-time female feature winners list Friday night in the “Senator’s Cup Fall Classic” at the Bullring.

Toni passed sister Annie on lap seven and led the rest of the 30-lapper to beat Annie, Jagger Jones, Antonia Boscacci and Jesse Love IV.

Jesse Love IV of Menlo Park, Calif. led all 30 laps to win Saturday night’s “Senator’s Cup Fall Classic” USAC Western HPD Midget race at the Bullring. Toni Breidinger was second ahead of Annie Breidinger, Antonia Boscacci and Jeff Kelley.

Love is the USAC HPD Western overall point leader entering the final race at Las Vegas November 19.
