Freeman Wraps Up TOWR Title with Top Five at Superbowl Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Texas (Sept. 22, 2015) – Cody Freeman didn’t start the 2015 season aiming for a championship.

However, after winning the TOWR season opener in March his team elected to focus on the title. That goal was accomplished last Saturday as Freeman recorded his seventh straight top-five finish, which wrapped up his first micro sprint championship.

“I surprised myself,” he said. “Once we won that first series race we decided to go after it and I’m glad it worked out.”

Freeman finished inside the top five during all 10 TOWR races this season, including the season finale Saturday at Superbowl Speedway.

That event began with Freeman finishing where he started – second – in a heat race, which lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

“Going into turn one the track was like driving on ice,” he said. “I went in driving my usual line and I spun out. They didn’t throw a caution so I lost all that ground.”

Freeman spent the remainder of the race trying to work his way back into a podium position. He ended with a fourth-place result, which was his 12th top five of the season and good enough to lock up the title.

“It definitely gives us a lot of confidence and momentum for next year,” he said.

Freeman isn’t scheduled to compete again until Oct. 17 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.
