Haley Arnold Makes Feature at First Knoxville Visit of 2011
PETERSEN MEDIA: With a weekend packed full of racing, Haley Arnold capped it off by qualifying for the feature event at the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA in her first night of competition at the track in 2011.
Friday night kicked off the lady racer’s weekend as she made an appearance with the Sprint Invaders Series at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA.
The night got off to a rough start for the driver of the Arnold Motorsports No.165 as she finished sixth in her heat race sending her to the B-main, needing to get to the top four to move on to the feature event.
Haley lined up for the feature in the 10th spot, and quickly grabbed a few spots as the green flag waved.
Quickly picking off Kaley Gharst, and John Greenwood, Arnold was in the seventh spot where she would ultimately finish, falling just short of the feature event.
Saturday night saw the Mid Mo Auto Sales/APG/J and J No.165 check into the Knoxville Raceway for Knoxville 360 Cup action.
Haley started off the night by timing in with a 17.016 putting her in the third heat race. Heat race action saw the lady racer tally a ninth place finish, forcing her to run through the B-main event for her last chance at transferring to the feature event.
As the B-main got underway, Haley quickly began charging her way through traffic from her 10th starting spot. After advancing to the eight spot on the initial start, Haley quickly got around Jordan Boston to take over seventh before she got around Tony Schilling and Jarred Schneiderman to grab the fourth spot with just 3 laps remaining. On the final lap, Haley powered around David Hall for the third spot as she tracked down Joe Agan.
Haley held on to the third spot and transferred into the feature event where she would start in the 18th position.
During the feature event, Haley continued to make smooth laps as she adjusted to racing on the big half mile, and as the race concluded she had worked her way up to the 16th finishing spot.
“I really had a blast racing on the big track here in Knoxville tonight,” said Haley. “I’m already excited about coming back to this place and getting more half mile experience.”
