Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders Head to the Lee County Fair Friday!
(Bill W) July 6, 2011 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders head to a very familiar place this Friday night, as they partake in their annual trek to the Lee County Fair and the Lee County Fair Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. The series has competed at the racy 3/8-mile oval more than any other in their history.
Two-time and defending champion, “Showtime” Kaley Gharst is expected to compete on Friday. Gharst is the all-time leading feature winner in series’ history, and the all-time leader in wins in Donnellson with five. The Sprint Invaders have raced 31 times at the track.
Four drivers have three wins apiece at the Lee County Speedway. They are Terry McCarl, Jeff Mitrisin, Matt Sutton and John Schulz. Bobby Hawks and Jesse Giannetto have a pair of wins, with Jeff Nehring, Billy Alley, Skip Jackson, Jake Peters, Jerrod Hull, Randy Martin, Rager Phillips, Josh Higday, Larry Pinegar II, Bobby Mincer and Ben Wagoner each claiming one.
Last season, in three events at Lee County Speedway, Gharst claimed two features and Wagoner the other.
The Sprint Invaders have been plagued by rain and flooding complications in 2011, but did manage to get their series’ opener completed on Monday night, May 30 at the Quincy Raceways in Quincy, Illinois. Jim Moughan Jr. won his second career feature with the series, holding off Kaley Gharst, who is the early season point leader. Bret Tripplett, Justin Parrish, Donnie Steward and “Lil’ Dude” Bobby Mincer round out the top five.
Race time is 7:30 p.m. this Friday night! Be there!
