PORT COLBORNE, Ont. (October 5, 2024) - Jordan Poirier took the Southern Ontario Sprints victory on Saturday night in the final Sprint Car race at Humberstone Speedway.

Matt Farnham and Liam Martin brought the field to the green flag for their 30-lap A-Main, and Farnham took the early lead. Dylan Westbrook raced his way to third place ahead of new track record holder Darren Dryden. Mike Bowman raced in fifth and then passed Dryden to take over fourth place on lap five. Westbrook then passed Martin to take over second on lap seven.

Jordan Poirier moved forward to race with Martin for third place on lap 10, while Farnham and Westbrook started to pull away from the field. Poirier reeled them back in and passed Westbrook to take over second on lap 13. Poirier then used the inside groove to take the lead away from Farnham on lap 16 and pulled away to claim the win. Westbrook got past Farnham to take the runner-up spot, while Farnham settled for the final podium position. Martin took fourth, while Ryan Turner rounded out the top five.

Darren Dryden set a new track record and claimed the Ackland Insurance Quick Time Award, while Cory Turner was The Drivers Project Hard Charger Award winner.

Westbrook's second place finish was more than enough to lock up his fourth career Southern Ontario Sprints championship. Five time SOS champ Glenn Styres is now the only driver ahead of Westbrook on the all-time list.

Saturday's race marked the 19th and final time that the SOS tour competed at Humberstone; the track will permanently close at the end of the 2024 season.
