The team found themselves with only one show on the schedule this past weekend as they traveled north to return to the Cedar Lake Indoor Kart Arena just outside New RIchmond, Wisconsin. KC registered with the Jr. Wing division and found himself facing a 10 kart field battling for the checkers.
The feature event was paced to the green by pole setter Tylar Alton with KC Sparks alongside. The lead duo headed down the back stretch and into turn three where they picked up the pace with Sparks working to get ahead of Alton and causing a chain reaction with Sparks, Alton, Trenton Boyer, Blake Adams, and Ryley Finnegan all linked together out of turn four. A complete restart saw Alton get the lead out of turn four with Sparks pulling down ahead of Boyer who started inside row two. Alton quickly jumped out to a 5 kart length lead and continued to build on his lead while Boyer chased Sparks with Finnegan and Adams running top five. On the third lap, Adams moved around Finnegan and set his focus on Boyer.
The feature event was slowed once when Cole McQuiston spun in turn four, bunching up the field for the restart behind ALton who had to relinquish his lead. Sparks was able to hang with the leader for a couple laps but his kart’s tight condition made it difficult to keep his corner speed as Alton quickly pulled away. Boyer and Adams remained close to Sparks as the laps clicked off and in the final few circuits, Adams made several challenges at Boyer for the podium position but was unable to make the move.
Alton completed a sweep of the Jr. Wing class by winning the feature event and both his heat races. Sparks came home in the runner up position with Boyer, Adams, and Finnegan in the top five. Cade Nelson came across in sixth. Hunter Hanson in his first visit to the track drove to a seventh place finish. Michael Hucovski, Ayden Erickson, and Cole McQuiston finished out the field.
The heat winners were Alton, Sparks, Alton and Adams.
