Elwood Sord
Chambersburg, PA
Driver Information
Elwood was introduced to racing as a young boy. He spent most of his Saturday nights in the stands at St. Thomas Speedway, cheering on Pete Mitten. After graduating high school, Elwood put together the 28R in the Road Runner Division. He raced the local circuit, Hagerstown, Port Royal and Silver Spring. After a few years, Elwood packed up the car, went home and sold everything. He didnt go back to the tack again. The next chapter in his life had began, raising his family. In the summer of 2007, Elwood went to the track with his cousins, and the bug bit. When the racing bug bites, it bites hard. Elwood knew that he had to get back into racing. But first, he wanted to introduce his daughter and her (then) boyfriend to the sport. Both Nikki and David were hooked with the first laps of the race. That year Elwood bought his first chassis from Andy Fries. April 2008 Elwood raced his first race in over 20 years. He took the first laps around Path Valley Speedway, and never looked back. Racing is a staple in the Sord household, and Elwood plans on racing for many years to come.
77S Racing raced its last race on 8/24/24. It was not something we as a crew took lightly. There were many hours of discussion and a lot of thought that went into this. But in the end, it is for the best. Thank you all for 16 awesome years!
Hobbies
