Sixth-place finish in Lucas Oil visit at Rome Speedway

Taking part in a doubleheader weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Austin Horton made the short trip to Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Ga.) on Saturday evening for the Dixie Shootout. Drawing 39 Late Models, Austin’s fifth-to-third run in his heat race positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. With $15,000 on the line, Horton was running in eighth late in the race when he suffered a flat right-rear tire. He came from the tail of the field to finish 11th. (Heath Lawson photo)

For the Rome Showdown on Sunday at Rome Speedway (Rome, Ga.), Horton dropped one spot in his heat race to finish sixth. Starting the $10,000-to-win finale in 17th, Austin advanced through the field 11 spots in the 40-lapper to register an impressive sixth-place finish.
