Joey Amantea came onto the scene a handful of times with the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series in 2020, as part of a development program with another team. After making a few starts throughout the year, coming into the fall months, Amantea and team purchased the car they had been running and ventured out on their own. Amantea immediately found success with the father son pairing, in an epic performance in September at the Bridgeport Speedway.
For 2021, Amantea and their family owned team set out for their quest for victories on tour with a full assault on the series trail. Amantea and team immediately found success yet again at the Bridgeport Speedway early on in the season, where they collected a third place effort, which would be their best run of the season.
From there it was a series of ups and downs with Amantea unfortunately going for some wild rides in heat race action at Port Royal and Big Diamond, but the team never quit throughout the season.
Of the 23 events held in 2021, Amantea was able to qualify for 19 events finishing with nine top ten runs, and three top five runs in the teams starts across the season.
For 2022, look for Amantea and team to focus on more winged 410 racing on the east coast, especially in central Pennsylvania. When Amantea and team don’t have the wings strapped to the 88J entry, Amantea intends to run a number of events again with the USAC East Coast Series.
